Today, reigning Primeira Liga champions Benfica will be welcoming Pacos de Ferreira feeling quite aggrieved about the results of last weekend's match.
Why? Well, the spoils in this season's first "O Classico" meeting went to Porto, who grabbed a late goal to settle things between the Dragons and the Eagles. Hence, as things stand, Rui Vitoria's men currently sit in third place with nine points from their first five fixtures. Whilst there are quite a number of games between now and the end of the 2015/2016 league campaign, Benfica supporters will be hoping that their team will get back on track as they take on Pacos de Ferreira in a few hours.
Like Benfica, Pacos de Ferreira will be coming into this game having lost their most recent fixture, a 3-0 drubbing at the hands of Rio Ave. Last season saw them finish in a relatively comfortable eighth place. As of now, they are in that very same spot with eight points from their opening quintet of matches but naturally will hope to improve their fortunes as the season continues.
In terms of head-to-head, it's no surprise that Benfica enjoys the historical advantage, with 25 wins versus Pacos de Ferreira's 4. The remaining 3 games have finished as draws. However, the visitors are no strangers to pulling off shock results, as evidenced during the 2012/2013 Primeira Liga and even this season, when they held "Big Three" member Sporting to a 1-1 draw at their opponents' home stadium.
With the hosts also having to focus on their upcoming UCL tie against Spanish heavyweights Atletico Madrid, the visitors will be hoping that this distraction could set the stage for a possible upset on Saturday evening.
