Didier Drogba has not even played one game with Montreal Impact, but he has already been greeted like a hero in what was his arrival to Montreal at the airport. Hundreds of fans gathered inside the Pierre Elliot Trudeau Airport to get a first glimpse at the new Major League Soccer star.
Drogba signed an 18-month contract with his new team. The striker from Ivory Coast had initially planned to join Chicago Fire, but a better offer from the Canadian side made the former Chelsea player change his mind last minute. The idea of playing in a city where French is spoken could have made the difference for Didi.
Drogba now joins many other stars that are coming to the Major League Soccer. Just this year, David Villa, Kaká, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Giovanni dos Santos have left Europe and joined a league that is growing rapidly.
