Sevilla are on a high at the moment. The Copa del Rey winners have a 3-1 lead against Barcelona going into the second leg of their Spanish Super Cup tie.

Sevilla players celebrate against Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup.Now they are keen to end the dream of surprise package Braga from Portugal. It will be an Iberian derby when Sevilla and Braga affront each other in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League play-off fixture.

Sporting Braga stunned Celtic in the 3rd round of qualifiers by trouncing the Scottish side 3-0 in Portugal before losing 2-1. They advanced 4-2 on aggregate and they are aiming to go as far as they can now. Reaching the group stages of the UEFA Champions League will be a dream come true for the Minho-based club that experienced its best finish in the Portuguese League last season.

After losing 3-1 to Portimonense SC in the opening match of their Liga campaign, Coach Domingos Paciencia fears that Sevilla won’t mark the end of their European dream. The boss explained:

“We want to win. I hope we can push ourselves to our very limits as this will give us more chance. It’s not easy to face teams with as much potential as of Sevilla. But we can keep believing.”

It seems that Braga won’t be able to benefit from complacency from their Spanish opponents on Wednesday night. The reality is that Sevilla are very much aware of Braga’s threat as Fernando Navarro declared:

“Braga aren’t a household name, maybe, in Spain. But we have been studying them, and we have seen how dangerous they can be.

“We will use the performance that we had in the second half against Barcelona [in the Spanish Super Cup] as a marker. This is the standard that we want to produce.”
