However, one particular move that failed to materialize, one that still lingers in the hearts of the Arsenal faithful is that of Cesc Fabregas. Once made available by Barcelona, the former Arsenal captain was believed to be headed for a return to north London.
But after Wenger turned down the chance to activate the Spaniard's buy-back clause, Fabregas ended up in west London with Jose Mourinho's Chelsea. Five months later, La Furia Roja playmaker tops the assist charts with 11 assists in England, as the Blues lead the standings with 36 points.
