The Gunners boss was full of praise for the English international after his performance in Arsenal's victory over Aston Villa.

Arsene Wenger certainly has some huge ambitions for his new striker.

The Gunners tactician secured the acquisition of often-maligned long-serving Manchester United attacker Danny Webeck on deadline day for £16 million, and was highly enthusiastic about the English international following the team's 3-0 win over Aston Villa.

A quick flurry of goals, including a goal and an assist for Welbeck who set up Mesut Ozil for the opener before grabbing one himself, helped Arsenal to a confidence-boosting three points following their disappointment against German outfit Borussia Dortmund in mid week.

So one couldn't blame the long-time Gunners boss from feeling quite pleased, but it's what he had to say about Welbeck that is quite interesting.

"I think Danny has an interesting potential and let’s see how he develops," he stated following the game.

"[And so I believe that] Thierry [Henry] is a good act to follow [for him]."

Legendary: Thierry Henry scored over 200 goals for the Gunners during his time in England

Despite Welbeck being slammed by former coach Louis Van Gaal for "not scoring enough", Wenger is confident that he can get the best out of him.

"It is more a problem of being nervous maybe because in training he scores goals like a real striker...[and] he is a good finisher," he added.

Well, given that Henry is Arsenal's all-time goal scorer, Welbeck certainly has some huge shoes to fill indeed...
