Atletico Madrid, coming off an excellent season, might struggle in the upcoming one; Galatasaray on the other hand will look to improve under Cesare Prandelli.

A season of change beckons for one while a season of stability beckons for another. Atletico Madrid, the best team in Spain if domestic results are to go by and so nearly the best in Europe, have lost many of their important players. One man they have not lost though is Diego Simeone, who knows that he has what it takes to break the Barca-Madrid duopoly as a manager. Simeone has signed one very good player in particular, the experienced forward and the man who has won everything possible at club level, Mario Mandzukic.

Mandzu had two memorable years with Bayern where he managed to displace Mario Gomez permanently. While his role at his former club is set to be taken over by Robert Lewandowski, his achievements cannot be forgotten. He rarely ever failed to turn up, scoring in big games such as the UEFA Champions League final in 2013. Had his relationship with his manager, Pep Guardiola, not broken down, he might have decided against transferring out.

Simeone's approach to his players is different from Guardiola and Mandzukic might thrive under him. Also, Mandzukic likes to be involved in tackles. He is very physical by nature and a tireless worker. He might be the perfect man to lead the line following the departure of Diego Costa. Mandzukic of course has to fill the very big shoes of the current Chelsea forward.

Galatasaray on the other hand starts off with a new manager this season and without Didier Drogba. Cesare Prandelli surprisingly signed for the Turkish giants after stepping down from the top post in Italian football management. His work as head coach will be remembered fondly despite Italy's failure to escape from the group stages of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Can Prandelli do what Roberto Mancini could not and lead Gala to glory on the domestic front? Can Simeone set his side up to emulate the successes of the 2013-14 season?
