After suffering a hamstring injury against Ghana, Klinsmann has positive news with regards to Altidore's condition.

During USA’s victory over Ghana, Jozy Altidore suffered a rather serious hamstring injury while he was chasing down a pass by Michael Bradley. The American striker stopped immediately, holding his left leg. Southampton’s player reported:

I was sprinting and I felt something … I was crushed. I knew right away I couldn’t continue. It was the worst feeling.”

Altidore had to stop his run immediately after feeling the pain

The United States will face Portugal next in a group-deciding game. In fact, should the Americans beat Bento’s team, they would virtually secure passage to the next round. Jürgen Klinsmann did not rule out the forward and hopes he will be ready for this weekends clash. During the Tuesday press-conference, the German stated:

“We have to see how he reacts in the next couple of days with his hamstring, and we are full of hope that he comes back still in this tournament. That's what we are going to work on every day.”

Americans anticipated the worst when the young striker was taken out on a stretcher

After Jozy Altidore underwent an MRI in Sao Paolo, Klinsmann refused to rule him out of the tournament, which is a very important signal. However, the German coach did not want to commit to any prediction. United States’ manager said:

“The medical staff has done a tremendous job. We still have hope that Jozy will come back. How quickly? That is down to his healing process.”

Klinsmann tried to calm down the player, who was visibly crushed by the injury
