In a recent interview, Michel Platini revealed that he will not be supporting Blatter any longer.

During FIFA’s congress in Brazil, many soccer leaders rebelled against Sepp Blatter, following his comments about racism in the British medias. Starting the rebellion was Greg Dyke, FA’s President, who demanded Blatter’s resignation after the “unacceptable” comments.

Blatter appeared to be "distracted" throughout the ceremony

Many followed Dyke’s statements, most notably Michel Platini, who used to be a colleague and friend of the FIFA President. In a recent interview with l'Equipe, the Frenchman stated:

“I am supporting him no longer, it’s finished. I have known him for a long time, I like him, but I’m not favourable to him having another term. And in the future, I shall not support Blatter. I told him that. I think Fifa needs a breath of fresh air.”

The Swiss President has been considered by many a negative influence on soccer

After describing the Swiss’ comments, which initiated his own fall, as ‘the most disrespectful thing I’ve ever experienced in my entire life’ Platini talked about the possibility for his own candidature. The former French legend said:

“It is an option. But it is not because of Blatter that Michel Platini would stand. And it is not because of Sepp Blatter that Michel Platini would not appear. My only concern is what I want to do.”

The great majority of the soccer-world embraced with joy the end of Blatter's too long reign
