During FIFA’s congress in Brazil, many soccer leaders rebelled against Sepp Blatter, following his comments about racism in the British medias. Starting the rebellion was Greg Dyke, FA’s President, who demanded Blatter’s resignation after the “unacceptable” comments.

Many followed Dyke’s statements, most notably Michel Platini, who used to be a colleague and friend of the FIFA President. In a recent interview with l'Equipe, the Frenchman stated:
“I am supporting him no longer, it’s finished. I have known him for a long time, I like him, but I’m not favourable to him having another term. And in the future, I shall not support Blatter. I told him that. I think Fifa needs a breath of fresh air.”
The Swiss President has been considered by many a negative influence on soccer
After describing the Swiss’ comments, which initiated his own fall, as ‘the most disrespectful thing I’ve ever experienced in my entire life’ Platini talked about the possibility for his own candidature. The former French legend said:
