The hamstring injury, which prevented the talented forward from playing the Champions League final, is still causing the player major discomfort. Doctor Pedro Gullen, who recently visited Atleti’s striker, stated:

“Diego Costa is still carrying the injury, a micro-tear in the hamstring.”

This would naturally cause the player to miss Spain’s pre-World Cup riendlies against Bolivia and El Salvador. Furthermore, FIFA revealed that the young attacker will have to rest for the next two weeks before his situation is reevaluated.

Though Costa’s presence in Brazil cannot be ruled out for sure, it seems prudent to deem it doubtful. In fact, even if Costa will be fit next month, it is not clear whether Del Bosque would take him to the South-American World Cup.
