Paraguayan striker Roque Santa Cruz has defended his side’s style of play ahead of Sunday’s anticipated 2011 Copa America final against Uruguay.
“It would not hurt me if we draw against Uruguay and then Paraguay win the match on penalties. Winning the Copa America is the goal, the rest does not matter,” Santa Cruz told reporters at a press conference.

Paraguay have not won a single game so far but their progress all the way to the final has widely been influenced by the mistakes of their opponents. The Paraguayans drew goalless against Ecuador and Brazil in the group stages while Venezuela’s late comeback on match-day 3 resulted in a 3-3 draw.

After claiming victory through a penalty shootout in the quarter-finals and in the semi-finals against Brazil and Venezuela respectively, the Guaranies could trap Uruguay with extra-time football once again.
