Two of the biggest clubs in Serie A will go head-to-head at San Siro on Saturday in search of a crucial win.

A busy Saturday in Serie A is headlined by a fascinating clash between AC Milan and Juventus at San Siro. The two clubs will go head-to-head with the respective mandate to secure wins and stay within range of their other league rivals on the table.

AC Milan and Juventus were tipped for great things this season, with the former expected to stage a commendable title defence having won the Scudetto in the last campaign. However, while it is still early days yet, Stefano Pioli's men have barely had a smooth ride, and currently sit in fifth position with the 17 points they have accumulated in the first eight years of the season.

The relevance of the game has been subtly heightened as a result of the outcome of the mid-week's Champions League group stage meeting with Chelsea. The Rossonerri were subjected to a 3-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge and will hope to avoid successive defeats for the first time since April 2021.

Milan will go into the weekend's affair on the back of 3-1 win over Empoli in their last Serie A outing. Prior to that, they picked up a disappointing 2-1 defeat against Napoli - club's first defeat of the season in its title defense.

For Juventus, the plan will be to get as close to the title as much as possible after falling off following years of dominance. The Bianconeri are currently a shadow of what they use to be while they navigate through a tough transitional period. As stated earlier, the season has began on a challenging note for the Turin club who sit in seventh position with 13 points to their name.

Juve will approach Saturday's blockbuster affair on the back of back to back wins over Macaabi Tel-Aviv and Empoli in the Champions League and Serie A respectively. But they cannot afford to be complacent as they are seven points behind leaders Napoli.

Team news: AC Milan vs Juventus

AC Milan's latest struggles have been partly down to their worrying injury record. The Rossoneri go into Saturday evening's affair with as many as seven key players absent from the squad. Goalkeeper Mike Maignan, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Divock Origi, Junior Messias, Alessandro Florenzi, Alexis Saelemaekers, Simon Kjaer and Davide Calabria are all set to miss out as they recover from respective injuries. However, Milan have been handed a significant boost with Theo Hernandez returning to the squad after a brief spell on the sidelines.

For Juventus, the return of Angel Di Maria in the mid-week's win over Maccabi Haifa yielded massive results as the Argentine was able to secure the Man of the Match award with his performance. Still, the Bianconeri will miss the service of long-term absentees Paul Pogba and Federico Chiesa at San Siro.
