The Blues are in need of a world-class striker and are reportedly plotting a move for Spurs' talisman forward.

Not only do Chelsea have new owners this year, led by the active Todd Boehly, but the Premier League giants have recruited a new head coach as well, with Graham Potter having walked through the Stamford Bridge door just under two weeks ago.

And according to recent reports, both men are keen on bringing in the world-class striker the Blues have needed for years. According to Calciomercato, the English tactician has one man on his radar and it is an ambitious name: Tottenham star Harry Kane.

Potter is said to be a huge fan of the Three Lions ace, and with the player set to enter the final year of his Spurs contract next summer, speculation has been building up regarding his future in north London.

As a result, the two-time UEFA Champions League winners could enter the race for Kane and test the water with an intriguing player-plus-cash offer that could see Romelu Lukaku join Tottenham.

The out-of-favor Chelsea forward is currently on loan with Inter Milan, his former club where he won the Scudetto. Nonetheless, he still remains contracted at Stamford Bridge as Boehly and Co. look to move on the Belgian ace.

And given that Antonio Conte, the man who coached Lukaku during Inter Milan's Serie A win in 2020/21, is in charge of Spurs, one can understand these links. However, this report should be taken with a pinch of salt, and not only due to Calciomercato's hit-or-miss reporting on transfers.

First of all, Lukaku is said to be happy at Inter, with the main issue being whether the Nerazzurri can financially afford to make his stay permanent. Additionally, there are question marks as to whether Kane will push for a move to a direct rival that isn't currently competing for the Premier League. Tottenham, meanwhile, are trying to tie the talisman down to a new deal and would likely refuse to sell to their despised neighbors.

And lastly, there is the interest from Bayern Munich. Having lost Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona over the summer, the German giants opted against replacing the Polish ace during that same window.

One of the reasons for this move was the complicated situation surrounding Kane. The English star is wanted at the Allianz Arena, as per German football expert Florian Plettenberg, but a deal last summer would have been tricky. Nonetheless, Plettenberg has already confirmed that there have been talks between the Bundesliga champions and Charlie Kane, the player's brother and agent, and that the striker is open to the idea of playing in Munich.
