The Swedish striker is reportedly off to England after the Magpies reached an agreement with Real Sociedad.

Newcastle's hopes for the 2022/23 season have just gone up a notch as the Premier League outfit have all but agreed a deal for a highly-rated La Liga attacker.

That man is none other than Alexander Isak, the Real Sociedad forward who had been on the radar of the likes of Arsenal and Barcelona not too long ago. According to the Athletic, the Premier League outfit have struck a deal with La Real for the Swedish ace and it looks to be only a matter of time before the 22-year-old arrives at St. James' Park.

As per Goal, the former Dortmund ace will cost Eddie Howe's side a hefty $69M, while others suggest it will be a bit higher at $70M. Newcastle will be happy to have landed the attacker as signing competition for Callum Wilson, who has faced his fair share of injuries throughout his career, was paramount.

The aforementioned English striker played a key role in the Magpies' thrilling 3-3 draw with Manchester City over the weekend, scoring his side's second goal against the defending champions, but was later forced off the pitch due to a hamstring issue.

In 132 appearances for Real Sociedad, Isak has scored 44 times and while he did not enjoy the best of campaigns last season, scoring only six goals in 32 La Liga games, he remains a talented player with room to grow. A move for Watford's Joao Pedro had been on the table, but after the aforementioned injury to Wilson, Newcastle returned for Alexander.

There have been suggestions of a 10 percent sell-on clause included for Real Sociedad, but only time will tell if this is true. Both parties will have to wrap up the formalities before the striker can officially don the Magpies' iconic black and white stripes.

Howe and Co. are hopeful of getting the player through the door in time for their upcoming clash with Wolves this weekend. If not possible, Isak could make his debut next Wednesday when Bruno and Co. visit Anfield for their Premier League showdown with Liverpool.
