A moment of magic by Jadon Sancho left the veteran midfielder on his back side and subsequently led him to lash out at Virgil van Dijk for failing to deal with the young Red Devil in his attempt to fire the hosts in front.

Fans of Manchester United stole the headlines in the build-up to Monday night's clash with their rivals for their protest against the club's ownership. However, when the storm had momentarily calmed, they were treated to quite a show by their club, with an all-round performance yielding a massive result with their nemesis in town.

After Anthony Elanga had squandered a brilliant chance to put Ten Hag's side in front earlier, the Swede set Jadon Sancho up to bury home his first goal of the season in remarkable fashion following a well-worked move. The 22-year-old winger received the ball with his back facing the Liverpool goal but brilliantly turned and threw off James Milner and goalkeeper Alisson Becker, who directly stood in front of him. With the pair left on the ground, the former Borussia Dortmund star simply curled the ball in the bottom right corner to send a wave of jubilation across Old Trafford.

In the aftermath of the goal, James Milner confronted Virgil van Dijk for his role in Jadon Sancho's strike. The Dutch center-back was caught ball-watching and the latter apparently gave him an earful for giving the United winger enough space to shoot. Needless to say, the altercation did not immune Milner from being laughed at.
