Real Madrid ace Cristiano Ronaldo has come out and made some controversial comments about the referee of Sunday night’s El Clasico match against Barcelona. It was a game that saw a seven goal thriller with three pnealies and a red, ending 4-3 in Barcelona’s favour.

Argentine star Lionel Messi scored a hat-trick, two of them coming from penalties the referee had awarded them. The referee also sent off Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos after he was faulted for bringing down Selecao superstar Neymar in the penalty box. It was a decision that greatly affected Los Blancos during the game as the had to play with 10 men against a rampant Barcelona side.

All this had Ronaldo fuming, saying the referee was not suitable for a huge game as El Clasico.

“Undiano Mallenco (the referee) is not suitable for games like this,” said Ronaldo. “We were playing against 12. It's always the same. It's like they don't want us to win and wanted Barcelona back in the title race."

"I am not looking for excuses, but I don't want to stay quiet on this. The referee was not at the required level for a big game like this.

The Ballon d’Or winner finally went on to say:

"I have been here for five years now and I know how things work. If Barcelona had lost, they would have been out of the title race. I have never seen Real Madrid being favoured by the referees."

Was Barcelona favored or is Cristiano Ronaldo making excuses for their loss?
