Liverpool and England captain Steven Gerrard has called upon his Meryside team to extend the contract of their current coach Brendan Rodgers. Rodgers took over as Liverpool manager only two years ago but is seeing his side challenge for the English Premier League this season.
Gerrard made these comments after his side thrashed Manchester United 3-0 at the Old Trafford in a match which saw their veteran captain score a brace. This result strengthened Liverpool’s title hopes and this has forced Gerrard to ask for him to be tied down at Liverpool.

“Brendan has been a revelation. He keeps tinkering and tweaking formations, making little changes to personnel and pulls it off," said Gerrard.
"He is a young coach who has earned the right to become Liverpool manager and from week to week he is improving and he has been an absolute breath of fresh air to this club."
Gerrard went on to say: “We are absolutely delighted he is here and I just hope there is a lot of movement in Boston (home of owner John W Henry) now as we speak because they have got to get him signed up as soon as possible.”
Liverpool currently sit in second spot with 62 points, four points behind league leaders Chelsea (66), with a game in hand.
