Man Utd finally get a break on De Jong deal

Manchester United get transfer boost regarding De Jong move

August 2, 2022 By Oscar Rojas
The Dutch footballer is seemingly closer to a move away from Camp Nou despite his interest to keep playing for Los Culés.

At long last, Manchester United's efforts to hire Frenkie De Jong have been given a major boost by the team currently paying the player's wages.

Speaking in a brief public appearance, Barcelona president Joan Laporta referred to the team's recent signings and how the club has not been able to register them in La Liga's books. After that, the club's main man clarified when it could happen, giving way for speculation about De Jong's future.

"We are doing everything possible to register the signings. We have to do it before August 13. We are optimistic about having all our signings registered by that date, let's hope the league can help us out," Laporta stated.

De Jong's move to Manchester United has been stalled due to the player's reluctance to join the Red Devils despite being deemed surplus to Xavi's requirements and despite the large number of players available for the coach in midfield. De Jong is unwilling to leave the club due to the deferred wages he agreed to help the club's struggling finances. Sources close to the player have stated that if the team is not willing to pay those wages, the footballer will stay put.

With the deadline to register new players being August 13, it seems that De Jong and Barcelona have some negotiating to do in the next eleven days. Will everything come to a satisfying end for all parties involved? Let's wait and see.
