Rene Meulensteen has not had great success since joining Fulham, very much like David Moyes. The former Everton manager has struggled to find consistency in the squad that Fergie led to the Premier League title last season.

When the two sides met on Sunday, the victory looked almost certain as the final minutes of stoppage time ticked away. Until Darren Bent came along and sent Old Trafford into complete shock. It was like being in a deep sleep, only to have your brother or sister come in and pour ice cold water all over you.

United fans were back to reality, after seeing RVP and Michael Carrick put them in the lead. The struggle continues at OT, which was once a feared stadium for opposing teams.

After the match, the former United assistant said that the hosts had a very straight forward game plan:

"Their game plan was quite straight forward," Meulensteen said after the 2-2 draw. "Get it wide and get it in. Whether it was from the full-back pushing on, or the supported wide man. So they put crosses in from wide angles and outside the box. Like I said, we defended it well."
