Reigning champions Juventus welcome Genoa to Turin in a Serie A encounter on Sunday the 27th of October 2013.

Juventus host Genoa looking to bounce back from back-to-back defeats against Fiorentina and Real Madrid.Preview: Bianconeri looking to bounce back from back to back defeats

Conte’s men have suffered defeats in their last two matches and will be rearing to make a statement when they host 16th placed Genoa at the Juventus stadium. The Old Lady surrendered a 2-1 lead against Fiorentina last time out when Giuseppe Rossi inspired a comeback for Viola to win the match for his side. In their subsequent match, Juve were unfortunate to be defeated at the hands of Real Madrid after defender Giorgio Chiellini received a controversial red card.

Despite their slip up against Fiorentina, Juventus are still third in the table with a chance to finish this week in second place if Napoli fail to gather maximum points in their match against Torino. Furthermore the Turin based club has had a good run on its home turf winning all the three matches played against Lazio, Verona and AC Milan.

Genoa on the other hand will be hoping for Juventus’s dismal run to last for a bit longer. The second coming of Gian Piero Gasperini has seen the Port City club put up better performances after former coach Fabio Liverani was relieved of his duties only six matches into the new season. In his first two matches in charge coach Gasperini has led his team to a victory and a draw.

Their recent good form has also been down to veteran striker Alberto Gilardino rediscovering his form at the right time. The 31 year old scored twice as Genoa scored a 2-1 victory over Chievo taking his tally to three goals for the season.

Genoa held Juventus to a 1-1 draw in the same fixture last season and I Rossoblu will be ecstatic if they can steal a point from this tie. They will however be without midfielder Francelino Matuzalem who was caught driving while drinking and has been dropped from the travelling squad as a punishment. Mario Alberto Santana picked up an injury in the match against Chievo last week and will miss the tie alongside Emanuele Calaio.

With Mirko Vucinic and Fabio Quagliarella both ruled out for Sunday’s encounter, Fernando Llorente  is expected to partner Carlos Tevez upfront for the Old Lady who will continue to be without Stephan Lichtsteiner and Simone Pepe.
