League leaders Bayern Munich welcome Hertha BSC to the Allianz Arena in a Bundesliga encounter on Saturday, the 26th of October 2013.

Bayern will host Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga after trouncing Plzen 5-0 in the Champions League.Preview: Bayern to relish in Hertha Berlin encounter

Defending champions Bayern Munich will be hoping to continue their ravishing start to the season when they take on fourth placed Hertha Berlin. Even though the last year’s treble winners have been nothing short of mesmerising, their Spanish coach Pep Guardiola has insisted that his side can get even better.

"We have to get better at set pieces. We often have many, many players in the middle and none on the sides. We can always get better. It would be boring if everything was perfect now,” said Guardiola after the match against Viktoria Plzen.

Pep Guardiola’s side put forth a dominant display at home on Wednesday and brushed aside the Czech side 5-0. Mario Gotze made an impact from the bench for the second consecutive game and is surely making a claim for himself for a starting berth.

The 21 year old made his presence felt when his 45 minute cameo allowed Bayern to score a 4-1 victory over Mainz after going a goal down in the first half and on Wednesday the former Borussia Dortmund man within three minutes of his introduction made an assist and then got himself on the score sheet in injury time.

But with too many world class player vying for limited spots it remains to be seen whether Gotze would be handed a start in the match against Hertha Berlin.

The Bavarians will be hoping to extend their unbeaten run to 34 games on Saturday. Last time the German giants lost a league fixture was against Bayer Leverkusen back in October last year and if they manage to avoid a defeat in their next league outing Bayern will equal the longest unbeaten streak in the history of German football set by Hamburg in 1974.

Bayern have scored 25 goals in the last eight matches they have played, but only Mario Mandzukic has managed to score more than thrice in league encounters. An even spread of goals accounts for the fact that Bayern do not have to rely on a single player for goals.

Their counterparts Hertha Berlin have defied all odds and have been undefeated in their last three matches. Die Alte Dame after earning promotion this season have taken the German league by storm and after defeating Borussia Mönchengladbach 1-0 in their last outing Jos Luhukay’s men are currently fourth in the league table.

Much of their form has been down to the brilliance of Brazilian star Ronny whose 18 goals last season helped Hertha in earning promotion. The 27 year old has notched up three goals so far while Tunisian forward Sami Allagui has netted five times.

The duo will be the biggest threat to Bayern’s undefeated run who will be without their first choice centre back Dante who also missed the Champions League game on Wednesday.
