Neymar is poised to steal the show during the Malaga vs Barcelona game on Sunday, August 25, 2013. Preview: Stage set for Neymar to grab the spotlight

The last few meetings between Malaga and Barcelona produced a flurry of goals with the Catalans always coming on top. Barca are poised to add more misery to their opponents on Sunday. Even the confirmed absence of Lionel Messi may not allow the hosts to breathe a sigh of relief.

With La Pulga injured, Brazilian signing Neymar will likely be offered the role he has been craving: a First XI spot with the task of leading his team’s attack. The ex-Santos star made the most of his substitute appearance in midweek. His goal cancelled David Villa’s strike for Atletico Madrid as the Blaugrana snatched a vital 1-1 draw in the first leg of the 2013 Spanish Super Cup.

Neymar will be keen to build some authority in the Spanish La Liga by opening his league goal account. Another player to watch in this game will be Cesc Fabregas. It seems Manchester United’s daring attempt to lure him away from the Camp Nou has reacted as huge motivation for the player to further prove himself for his current club.

Fabregas made no less than five assists for Barca against Levante last weekend. He was also a danger man against Atletico on Wednesday and could eventually earn a spot in Gerardo Martino’s starting line-up.

Sunday’s fixture at La Rosaleda will certainly be all about the visitors. Malaga lost 1-0 to Valencia on Matchday 1 of La Liga and could be in for a long torrid campaign, carrying the disappointment of being banned from competing in Europe despite qualifying last season.
