Edinson Cavani may have bade arrividerci to his fans at Napoli but the Italian Serie A giants are still as strong as ever, thanks to summer acquisitions.
After three seasons and a bag full of goals, Uruguay international, Edinson Cavani swapped the Neapolitan jersey for Paris Saint-Germain. Napoli, now led by Rafael Benitez, are starting a new cycle, one that might see the club become even stronger than it was last season.

These days, 64 million euros is a sacred treasure, a treasure that a club can invest in the transfer market. Napoli are in a paradoxical situation. They have just lost a striker, who was a decisive player. However, it is time for the club’s fans to learn to live without him.

Another thing that should be kept in mind that the club has its greatest assets in the shape of president, Aurelio Di Laurentiis, a man who has revitalised a club that could have been far away from Serie A just a few years back.

Cavani was not the only person who left Naples this summer. Walter Mazzarri left and so did Walter Gargano. However, rather than becoming a feeder club, Napoli have made a flurry of great signings this summer.

Last season, Napoli lacked a bit extra down the left flank and this problem was duly addressed by Benitez who brought in Dries Mertens from PSV Eindhoven. The Belgian international is one of the best wingers around at the moment and will definitely be a success in Italy if he remains injury free next season.

At the age of 19, Josip Radosevic still has a lot to learn but the youngster could prove to be a great replacement for Gargano. During his time at HNK Hajduk Split, the Croatian was considered as a future star for the national side and at Napoli, he will definitely have a chance to realise his full potential.

Since the departure of Ezequiel Lavezzi to Paris Saint-Germain last season, Napoli did not have that bite down the right flank. However, the arrival of Jose Callejon might have solved that quandary. The Spaniard always did well whenever given a chance at Real Madrid and perhaps, a move to Italy might offer Callejon a chance to showcase the talent that he is.

Defensively, Napoli have been pretty sound these past few years. However, it is still a wise option to have other options in defence. With the club playing in three fronts next season, Benitez did a really good job by bringing in Raul Albiol from Real Madrid.

Shortly, Gonzalo Higuain and Pepe Reina will be presented as the club’s latest acquisitions and it is the arrival of the former that has been anticipate for a long time. During his time at Real Madrid, Higuain scored a lot of goals but was never really given the kind of status he deserves. Regardless, the Argentine is one of the most lethal strikers in Europe and is likely to prove himself as worthy of a position that Cavani thrived in during his three-year-sojourn at Stadio San Paolo.

He might not be a perfect replacement but Higuain is definitely the kind of striker who will flourish and score a glut of goals at Napoli.
