The Special One's project in Rome is going as planned, but the Portuguese manager wants to add talent he has already coached in the Premier League.

The end of the 2021-22 season in the world is fast approaching, and with a complicated schedule ahead of the following season, Roma's coach José Mourinho has started to look for reinforcements in a place where he was not precisely a success, but where he left some good memories for some of his fans.

The team Mourinho is ready to "raid" during the upcoming transfer window is none other than Manchester United. The Red Devils are expected to witness a massive overhaul in the next weeks, and the Portuguese coach has already asked his agents and Roma representatives to try and lure as much as three players to the Italian top-flight.

The first of those names is that of Nemanja Matic. The player's deal with the English club is about to expire, and hiring one of the most talented midfielders in the world for his Roman project would be wonderful for Mourinho. The player was close to joining Mourinho this past winter, but Roma execs pulled the plug on the deal and decided to pursue his signing once he became a free agent. Now, it seems that it will only be a matter of weeks to finalize the deal.

The other two players included in the report by Calciomercato are Eric Bailly and Diogo Dalot. Right now, both players have been included in a list of footballers that could be sold during the summer window, but while Mourinho has already shown interest in their services, the club will only part ways with them if new coach Erik Ten Hag decides not to keep them around.

As of now, Roma are fifth in the Italian Serie A with 58 points and four games left. If the giallorossi want to make it to the UEFA Champions League, they need to win all their games and expect Juventus to lose at least two of their matches. It seems a bit far-fetched, but Mourinho's Serie A career has shown he can do that with Italian clubs and much more. If he can pull this off, then the Special One would be able to lure even more talented players to help Roma win a Scudetto for the first time since the 2000-01 season.
