WATCH: Eintracht fans take over Camp Nou in UEL

WATCH: Barcelona board slammed as Eintracht fans dominate the stands

April 14, 2022 By Oscar Rojas
The Catalan side had only destined 5,000 tickets for German supporters, but Frankfurt fans had other plans.

Fans and experts around the globe were baffled to see so many Eintracht Frankfurt supporters at Camp Nou Stadium, and some believe that the environment surrounding the game could have been decisive to the end result of the match.

Initially, Blaugrana execs had expected German fans to occupy the 5,000 tickets they had assigned to them as courtesy between both teams, but in reality, over 20,000 German fans made their way to Camp Nou to join their team in what turned out to be a night for the ages, as they eliminated the Catalan club from the Europa League with a 3-2 score.

German fans reportedly got their hands on more tickets "thanks" to a campaign by the Blaugrana side that encouraged those associates that were not planning to go to the game to "donate" their tickets. Those seats were sold online to German fans, and when the club tried to prevent that from happening, the tickets had already been sold to Eintracht's supporters.

Things got so out of hand for Barcelona that Frankfurt fans booed them when the team stepped out of the tunnel to start their training. Added to that, the initial protocol with the club's anthem on the stadium's speakers was not audible due to the chants and jeers from Frankfurt fans.

Have a look at the images that circled around the world.
