Will the Spanish tactician replace Tite as the Selecao's head coach? Here's what the Spaniard had to say about this matter.

With Manchester City's highly-anticipated Premier League showdown with Liverpool fast approaching, Pep Guardiola met with reporters in his pre-game press conference to discuss an array of topics, mainly the Etihad Stadium clash with Jurgen Klopp's men.

However, one of the topics brought up for discussion was the recent links with the Brazilian national team job. According to Marca, with Tite tipped to leave the Selecao after this year's FIFA World Cup, the five-time world champions have shortlisted the Spanish tactician and are keen on bringing him to South America.

The Spanish publication also added that the Canarinho have already made contact with Pep's agent, his brother Pere Guardiola, and have offered him a €12M net annual salary. This has raised a few concerns among Manchester City fans as the former Barcelona boss will enter the final year of his deal this summer.

But is there any truth to these rumors? This question was brought forward during the press conference but Pep was quick to dismiss the claims.

It wasn't too long ago when the 51-year-old expressed his desire for coaching in South America and in the international scene. However, when asked about the Brazil links, Guardiola stated that he wants nothing more than to remain at Manchester City for as long as possible.

"Not today come on. I'm under contract here, I'm so happy here," the Spaniard said, as per Marca

I'm willing to stay forever, when I want to stay forever here. There cannot be a better place to be.

"I'd extend the contract ten years, but I will not extend the contract ten years, but now is not the moment. I don't know where it's come from because honestly."

The highly-rated manager's sole focus is currently on Sunday's game. With Liverpool sitting only one point behind the league leaders and defending champions. City know they must win this tie in order to strengthen their grip on the title. However, doing that is easier said than done as the Merseyside giants have been in excellent form. Do not miss this clash!
