League leaders PSG travel to Monaco on Sunday as they search back to back wins in Ligue 1,

It's the biggest one yet for this gameeweek as Paris Saint-Germain will travel to AS Monaco this Sunday for their 29th fixture of the season. While the stakes may not be too high considering the fact that the host have already established a 15-point lead in the table, they will still fancy their chances to hit a consitent run of form.

It has been an interesting few weeks for Paris Saint-Germain who were disappointingly knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by Real Madrid. Despite winning the first leg by a goal to nil, the French club could not hold their nerve to get the job done and were dumped out after a Karim Benzema hat-trick inspired the Meregues to a 3-2 aggregate win.

The attention of the club has since turned to the domestic league which looks like a done deal for Les Parisiens. Mauricio Pochettino's men will approach the weekend's game on the back of a 3-0 league win over lowly-ranked Bordeaux and will target another victory in succession in order to get a little face-lift.

Across their last five matches in all competitions, the French heavyweight has just registered two wins, and has lost the remaining three games. There has also been very little to write home about in terms of their recent away form in the league, with the club picking up just one win from their last five away outings.

Essentially, the task ahead is not going to be easy for the capital club with Monaco also looking to turns things around in their favor. There has been a charge of guard at the club following the suprise sack of Niko Kovac. In the Croatian's stead, Philippe Clement took over the reins and is aiming to make things work in favor of the his European football-chasing side. At the moment, they are six points adrif of a place in European football for next season.

Unlike their opponents from Paris, Monaco has failed to pick up a single win in their last three matches in all competitions. The most recent was the 3-1 aggregate defeat to Braga which led to their elimination form the Europa League. History also suggests that they may have a hard time dealing with the threat of PSG with their last three meetings ended 2-0 in favor of the Parisians.

Head-to-head

Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain have played 91 matches in Ligue 1. The former has recorded 43 wins, while the the latter have been victorious in 22 games, with the remaining 26 games ending in a draw. This season, the two sides have met once, with PSG celebrating a 2-0 victory following Kylian Mbappe's double.

Team news

Monaco will be without Cesc Fabregas and Krepin Diatta when they take on PSG but Jean Lucas should be available for selection. There is also a boost in the squad, with Aleksandr Golovin and Guillermo Maripan are also now being fit for selection.

Meanwhile, PSG would have to deal with the absence of Lionel Messi. The Argentina superstar who was booed in the win over Bordeaux, is reportedy ill and has been excluded form the squad list. Angel Di Maria, Sergio Ramos, Ander Herrera, Juan Bernat and Layvin Kurzawa are all out as well.

Predicted starting XI

  • Monaco: Nubel; Aguilar, Disasi, Maripan, Henrique; Martins, Fofana, Tchouameni, Golovin; Ben Yedder, Volland
