The player will initially set to join the Catalan club's B-team.

Barcelona have completed the signing of highly-rated Spanish midfielder Pablo Torre, the club confirmed in a statement. The 18-year-old joins the Catalans from Racing Santander in a deal worth an initial $5.5M.

Barcelona are yet to fully address the financial crisis they have faced in recent years and, as a result, have turned to recruiting young talents as well as players available for free. In Torre, the Camp Nou outfit has landed one of the most-promising talents in Spain at the moment. The Spain Under-19 international has been tipped to as 'the next Pedri' and reportedly idolises Xavi.

According to report from Spain, the Racing starlet only agreed personal terms with the La Liga giants after a personal intervention from the current Barca boss who convinced him to make the switch amid serious interest from Real Madrid. As per Marca, the pair share the same agent as Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti.

Barca are expected to pay an initial $5.5M to Racing for Torres while the rest will be paid in add-ons that could see the price rise as high as $15.5M. Torre is expected to feature reguarly for Barcelona B when he joins but will also be given first opportunities as much as possible.

He has played 21 games for Racing this season, and has featured in the starting lineup eight times. TThe youngster has scored six goals for his team who currently sit atop the Primera División RFEF, the third tier of Spanish football. Back in December, Torre was adjudged the league's Player of the Month.
