Both the young French guns have put up some very impressive performances for their respective clubs which have not gone unnoticed, and Didier Deschamps has decided to give them a run in the first team.
Varane has now established himself as an important first team player in a highly competitive Real Madrid side, and has won a lot of praise from the football world after excellent displays against Manchester United and Barcelona.

His handling of Lionel Messi was specifically remarkable and he marshalled the defence in the tie against Manchester United giving Van Persie no room to operate. The Real Madrid youngster is yet to earn his first cap for the French side, having received a call up on two previous occasions.

Paul Pogba on the other hand like his compatriot has been a revelation, since his summer move from Manchester United to Juventus. The midfielder has seamlessly slotted alongside Andrea Pirlo in the middle of the park and has put some impressive performances for the Old Lady.

Les Bleus manager Didier Deschamps explained his decision of the inclusion of the duo in his squad.

"[Varane] has not featured in a single minute with the senior side yet, but I consider him ready to play,"

"[Pogba] is often used as a runner, but when he is allowed to advance forward, he can strike the ball with venom. He is versatile enough to play in any midfield position."

The Juventus midfielder has been delighted by his inclusion and is relishing the chance to show his boss what he can add to the France team.

“This is a very beautiful gift, I am still very happy and shocked. I am moved, so many people have sent me messages and I find it hard to realise that my dream is taking shape," he told RMC Sport.

The young midfielder has often been compared to former Arsenal and French star Patrick Vieira, and Pogba has mentioned his compatriot as one of his idols.

“I had idols, [Zinedine] Zidane, Vieira, [Robert] Pires or [Thierry] Henry. There were many. It is an honour to wear this jersey."

Didier Deschamps also hinted on how the French defense will be structured in the next few years naming Varane, Laurent Koscielny, Mamadou Sakho and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa as the four contenders to occupy the two central defence positions.

"Arsenal performed at a high level [against Bayern]. Laurent [Koscielny]'s display caught my eye. He had good legs," he added.

"I have no problems with [Mamadou Sakho's] playing time. He plays most of PSG's games, although I'd prefer it if he played week in week out. Said the former Marseille boss

"It's likely that I will stick with these four central defenders” referring to Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa as the fourth man.

He further rose to the defence of his under fire striker Karim Benzema, the France boss hailed the Real Madird’s forward’s talents and indicated that an in form Benzema would be key to their success.

"Everyone can criticise [Karim Benzema's] performance. but his quality and potential will always be there. He needs just a goal, and he has my trust. France need Benzema at his best."

Deschamps further commented on Toulouse's midfielder Etienne Capoue and injury prone Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby who are both not part of the squad to face Georgia and Spain.

"This is not punishment [for Capoue], but he has not been good enough with his club. There is always competition for places," Deschamps continued.

"[Abou Diaby] has gone three weeks without playing, it's complicated. There are currently too many uncertainties with him.
