Leeds and Kane-Son make EPL history

Leeds set unwanted record while the Kane-Son partnership make EPL history in Spurs' 4-0 win

Kane and Son wrote their name in history while Bielsa's men set a record... but for all the wrong reasons!

Tottenham took on Leeds United in Saturday's early Premier League fixture as the north London giants looked to bounce back from their terrible form.

Antonio Conte's men entered this clash on the back of a gut-wrenching 1-0 loss to Burnley, with Spurs suffering defeats in four of their last five top-flight fixtures leading up to their Elland Road trip. This torrid run led to an astonishing post-match interview from their Italian boss, with the former Inter Milan man hinting at an early exit – he'd later go on to publicly commit his future to the club.

This showdown, however, went extremely well for Harry Kane and Co. The English giants needed less than 30 minutes to march to a 3-0 lead, with the Three Lions talisman forward netting his side's third of the game only 28 minutes after kick-off. Five minutes before the end of normal time, Son Heung-Min got on the scoresheet, sealing an impressive 4-0 victory over the Peacocks.

Not only did that defeat make the prospect of relegation all the more real for Bielsa's side, as they are now only two points ahead of 18th-placed Burnley, but it also saw Leeds make history. Of course, it was for all the wrong reasons.

That 4-0 drubbing means the West Yorkshire club wrap up February having conceded a whopping 20 goals in the Premier League alone. No other club has shipped in as many goals as that in a single month in the competition's entire history. In fact, the only time a top-flight club conceded more was Newcastle (21) in April 1986, prior to the championship's current format.

However, one man's misery was another's joy as Tottenham's Kane-Son attacking duo set an excellent record. The fourth goal, which was scored by the South Korean superstar, was set up by the aforementioned Englishman, which was the 37th time the pair combined for a Premier League goal, a feat no other EPL duo has managed!

That victory saw Spurs leapfrog Wolves into seventh, with fourth-placed Manchester United and fifth-placed Arsenal being just a few points ahead. Conte's men have played one more game than the Gunners but have a few matches in hand over the Red Devils.
