The Argentine ace has been heavily linked to a return to Camp Nou, which could take place in the upcoming transfer window.

Lionel Messi's future beyond this season has once again become a matter of controversy, and judging by some recent statements by people with some relationship to his inner circle, that will be the case for the next few months.

Speaking in an interview with Spanish newspaper As, former Italy and Juventus striker Fabrizio Ravanelli spoke about Messi's stint at PSG, and how he does not see the Argentine superstar staying with Les Parisiens beyond next summer.

In the conversation, Ravanelli urged people to believe that Messi's stay at Parc des Princes will come to an end sooner than most expected, with the deadline for it to happen being the upcoming transfer window.

"I am conscious and convinced that, at this point of the season, one could say that Messi's stint in Paris is over, because in my opinion, he will return to Barcelona after the end of this campaign, even if he leaves on a free transfer and goes back to Barcelona with a reduced salary," Ravanelli stated.

The former Middlesbrough and Olympique Marseille star added that Messi's reasons to cut short his stay in Ligue 1 may have been fueled by the unrest shown by those close to him.

"He is in a difficult stage of his life, because he knows how relevant it is for his inner circle to enjoy life at its fullest," the forrmer footballer added.

Before the interview came to an end, Ravanelli urged Messi to cut his losses and return to Camp Nou as soon as possible.

"He knows that Barcelona is his home, and he has realized he made a huge mistake in leaving Barcelona to join PSG. He is an extraordinary player, who has shown he's the best for many years," Ravanelli concluded.
