While Gareth Bale continued his goal-scoring form, Santi Cazorla, Romelu Lukaku and Arouna Kone scored a brace apiece.
The 27th game-week resulted in a couple of surprising and not-so-surprising performances with quite a handful scoring a couple of goals apiece.

I must talk about one who carved out a brace for Wigan Athletic in their win over Reading - Arouna Kone. He was one of those I was backing to get football fantasy managers the points and to get those two goals was a proud moment, and not just for himself!

Interestingly Reading failed to reproduce their goal-getting form and allowed the Wigan defenders and their goal-keeper Ali Al Habsi to escape with a clean sheet. Oh and in case I forget to make a mention of this for my next week's tips, Pavel Pogrebnyak's sending off means that he will miss three games for Reading and in turn allow Adam le Fondre to take the starting line-up for their side.

Arsenal's win over Aston Villa came as no surprise but none of the Gunners' strikers got themselves on to the scoresheet. Instead it was left to Santi Cazorla to help himself to a couple of goals - including one thanks to a Monreal assist - that won Arsenal three points. Romelu Lukaku seems to have slotted himself very well in the West Bromwich Albion line-up very well too as his two goals ensured that his side ended up victors over Sunderland.

Lukaku's twin-goal points would have been stained slightly by his shirt-waving celebration that earned him a yellow and his fantasy owners a few negatives.

While Tottenham Hotspurs are quickly running into the danger of becoming a one-man team, Gareth Bale fantasy owners will not mind that too much. He was one of the four this game-week to score two goals including one that came in the second half injury time - a rasping shot that left the West Ham goalie stunned. The twin-strikes takes Bale's tally to 15 this Premier League and third in the list behind Robin van Persie and Luis Suarez.

As I had predicted in my previous piece the Newcastle v Southampton game turned out to be quite a high-scoring encounter. Fortunes fluctuated throughout the game which saw half a dozen goals with the Toons coming out on top.

It was Southampton's Rickie Lambert who earned fantasy owners aplenty with his goal and assist while Moussa Sissoko continued his good form with another goal to his name. Three goals and a couple of assists in four games for Newcastle's latest signing has given his side an edge going into the last third of the competition. I wouldn't be surprised if his price in fantasy football steadily increased to a point where he will become difficult to buy.

Defensively, Fulham, Manchester United, Wigan and Manchester City did not concede any goals with Joe Hart of City and Mark Schwarzer of Fulham even managing to save penalties on top! Suffice to say that if you had either goalie in your fantasy team it would have reaped a huge benefit.

Matchday 28 will be played on March 2, 3 and 4.
