The Frenchman denied the Austrian club their first-ever knockout win with a late strike for the Bavarians.

Red Bull Salzburg were denied a celebratory night in what was their debut in the Champions League knockout stage following the draw with Bayern Munich on Wednesday. Kingsley Coman handed the hosts a heartbreak by scoring in the 90th minute, ensuring that the first-leg of the tie ended in stalemates.

The Bavarians have a reputation for dominating games but had an off-day at the Red Bull Arena with Salzburg putting them through their paces for the whole duration of the encounter. Matthias Jaissie's men were poised to make a difference and the objective was rightly achieved after their persistence earned them a goal in the 21st minute.

It was substitute Chukwubuike Adamu who broke the deadlock for the Austrian club after replacing Noah Okafor who had picked up an injury early on. Following the young attacker's goal, the host did enough to keep their German opponents at bay while pushing for another goal to double their advantage.

Bayern appeared to be on course for their first-ever away defeat in 22 Champions League matches but Kingsley Coman kept the record intact by netting a late leveller for his side. The Frenchman had been the livewire for the Julian Nagelsmman's side and popped up at the right place to tap home Benjamin Pavard's long ball nodded down Thomas Muller.
