Bitter South American rivals Argentina and Brazil locks horns in the standout showdown, but that is not the only interesting World Cup qualifier set to take place.

The World Cup qualifiers may be coming to a wrap in Europe, but in South America, the action continues full steam ahead, with Matchday 14 set to commence during the midweek. All five games will be played on Tuesday, with Uruguay's 3 p.m. ET showdown with Bolivia getting things underway.

So far, only Brazil have secured their ticket to next year's World Cup, with the five-time champions booking their spot at Qatar 2022 thanks to their 1-0 victory over Colombia a few days back. Despite this, the Selecao will not take their foot off the pedal as the South American giants will be in for a crucial showdown with bitter rivals Argentina.

Meanwhile, Uruguay, who have dropped out of the qualifying positions, head into this round with the goal of returning to winning ways as their battle with Ecuador, Chile and Columbia rages on. Here's everything you need to know about the upcoming round in South America's World Cup qualifiers.

Argentina vs Brazil: The fact that Brazil have already secured qualification for next year's World Cup will amount to nothing as the Selecao will be seeking revenge over their bitter rivals when they face off. Not only are bragging rights on the table, but the five-time champions can make amends for that 2021 Copa America final defeat at the hands of Argentina. Messi and Co. overcame Tite's side 1-0 in the ultimate game, walking away with the illustrious crown in front of the Maracana, to make things worse. La Albiceleste, who are second in the table, boast an impressive 26-game unbeaten run, a streak that stretches back all the way to July 2019. Will Brazil bring that run to an end? Colombia vs Paraguay: This game will see two sides who suffered 1-0 defeats lock horns as Colombia aim to get the better of Paraguay in their campaign to make it to Qatar. The hosts were undone by Brazil, as mentioned earlier, in their most recent fixture. However, thanks to Uruguay's defeat against Argentina, Los Cafeteros remained in the top five. Paraguay, on the other hand, are in eighth, but are only four points behind fourth-placed Chile, meaning all hope is not yet lost for the visitors.

Chile vs Ecuador: La Roja have climbed up to fourth but will be in for a tricky fixture on Tuesday, taking on third-placed Ecuador. Alexis Sanchez and Co. are level on points with fifth-placed Colombia and sixth-placed Uruguay, meaning they are not yet out of the woods. A slip-up on Tuesday could see them drop to the playoff spot, or worse, crash out of the top five altogether. The visitors, on the other hand, boast a four-point advantage over their opponents and thus can enter this tie with less pressure.
