Les Parisiens have been given a big boost with the return of one key player, but will have to make do without another ahead of their UCL clash with RB Leipzig.

After he was subbed off during PSG's recent 2-1 win over Lille, Lionel Messi's legions of fans around the world were surely concerned about the fitness of the Argentinian superstar.

And now, the six-time Ballon d'Or winner is ruled out for PSG's upcoming showdown with RB Leipzig due to what reports describe as a knee problem as well as some other muscular discomfort; some other reports have mentioned that the real issue is an on-going hamstring complaint.

Whatever the real issue - one thing is certain: Messi doesn't look set to join up with the squad for Wednesday's game. The 34-year-old, who's still seeking his first goal in Ligue 1 was a key protagonist for Les Parisiens as they battled to a 3-2 win over a very stubborn Leipzig side.

However, if Leipzig fans are already celebrating and perhaps dreaming of a much-needed win, they need to put the brakes on that, because PSG have been given a huge boost.

Kylian Mbappe, who scored the first of PSG's goals during the 3-2 win about a fortnight ago, is set to make his return. The 2018 World Cup winner missed out on his team's clash with Lille due to an ear infection, but has now recovered and will be part of the traveling party to Germany who will take part in Wednesday's match.

As things stand, PSG are presently in first place, just one point ahead of Manchester City, who will face Belgian side Club Brugge also on Wednesday.
