Will your favourite team avoid the group of death? See where to watch the 2012/13 UEFA Champions League draw live from Monaco this Thursday.
In Pot 1 are Europe’s best teams. UEFA Champions League titleholders Chelsea, world champions Barcelona, EPL runners-up Manchester United, German Super Cup winners Bayern Munich, 32-time La Liga champions Real Madrid, London giants Arsenal, Portuguese titans FC Porto and Serie A runners-up AC Milan complete the group.

English Premier League champions Manchester City are in Pot 2 with Sporting Braga, Benfica and La Liga contenders Valencia. The Citizens will be hoping for a kind draw after facing a tough adventure last season.

Turkish champions Galatasaray, French giants Paris Saint-Germain, Belgium titans Anderlecht and Italy’s Juventus are also back in the UEFA Champions League after spending a few years out. These four clubs start the draw in Pot 3.

Among the 32 participants are 12 previous winners. For Spanish club Malaga, surprise Ligue 1 champions Montpellier and Denmark outfit FC Nordsjaelland, the 2012/13 season represents their debut in the UEFA Champions League.

After four years, Scottish club Celtic make their return to Europe’s most prestigious club football competition. They have a spot in Pot 4 alongside Germany’s Borussia Dortmund and this year’s debut-makers.

One of the big rules to know is that a group cannot contain two teams from the same country. Watch the 2012/13 UEFA Champions League draw live on Fox Soccer 2Go from 11:45 EST. The event will also be live on ESPN2 Australia and ESPN Pacific Rim.

Also on the agenda is the revelation of the 2012 UEFA Best Player award winner. Lionel Messi won the first edition of this prize last year. He is in contention to defend his title but Barcelona team mate Andres Iniesta and Real Madrid attacker Cristiano Ronaldo also stand a chance to clinch this year’s UEFA Best Player award.

The three nominees were in action on Wednesday in the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup. Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi both found the net but the former ended the night with the trophy in his hands.

Cristiano Ronaldo's 46 goals in La Liga inspired Real Madrid to a record 100 points and 121 goals. The Portuguese also helped his country to reach the semi-finals at Euro 2012.

Meanwhile, Lionel Messi won the Copa del Rey and finished as the top scorer both in the UEFA Champions League and La Liga. With Spain, Andres Iniesta won Euro 2012 and got awarded with the Player of the Tournament prize.
