Canada vs Sweden
The day begins with Canada’s women’s soccer team fighting to progress out of Group F. In their second match at the Olympic Games, the Canadians took their chances and recorded a vital 3-0 win over South Africa.
This demolition was made possible thanks to Melissa Tancredi’s 7th minute opener and Christine Sinclair’s second half double. The latter is now joint top scorer with some of women’s soccer’s biggest stars like Brazil’s Marta and USA’s Abby Wambach.
Canada find themselves a point behind Group F’s Sweden and Japan. Avoiding defeat against the Swedes is enough for the Canadians to reach the knockout stages.

USA vs North Korea
In an afternoon kick-off, Group G leaders USA play North Korea. The Asians enter this match with a chance of qualifying past the group stages. However, they need at least a point from the United States match.
The Americans are already through to the knockout stages but this does not mean that the North Koreans are going to have it easy. USA want to build the maximum amount of momentum and they are presently on the right track.
Their spectacular 4-2 comeback against France on the first day set the tone. Against Colombia at the weekend, USA avoided any sort of scare by imposing themselves from start to finish. Megan Rapinoe, Abby Wambach and Carli Lloyd netted a goal each to destroy Colombia 3-0.
Meanwhile, North Korea come into this match on the back of two consecutive defeats. As if they hardly learnt anything from their 2-0 to Colombia in their first match, the Asians went down 5-0 to France in their second fixture.
In fact, Korea DPR must first think about breaking the goal drought before even dreaming about victory. Is it safe to predict another clean sheet for USA’s outstanding goalkeeper Hope Solo?
