Liverpool boy Andy Carroll is in the news as Alan Pardew wants him back at Newcastle United.
Reports from England reveal that Newcastle United are looking to welcome back their former striker, Andy Carroll, for £13 million. This news comes after Liverpool reportedly rejected a loan deal from the Magpies.

Last week, new Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers completed the signing of Fabio Borini for a decent £8 million. Borini, who played under Rodgers at Chelsea and Swansea City, is expected to quickly adapt to the football at Anfield and partner with Luis Suarez upfront.

Fabio Borini's presence could interfere with Andy Carroll's time on the pitch. In fact, the latter has barely impressed the public since his lucrative transfer from Newcastle United. In 56 appearances, the English forward netted only 11 goals.

Looking at these poor statistics, Andy Carroll vowed last week to fight for his place at Liverpool.

This means that Liverpool’s pre-season tour in USA this summer will stand as a glorious chance for Carroll who is currently on holiday to prove himself. In the meantime, speculations in the media suggest that the club is willing to offload him.

However, Newcastle United’s £13 million transfer fee could be an issue. The Merseyside Reds may request a higher bid given that they signed Andy Carroll for £35 million on January 31 last year.

Besides the transfer fee factor, Newcastle United will need to survive competition from Fulham and Aston Villa according to the Daily Mail. Next year, coach Alan Pardew could find himself without key strikers Cisse and Ba due to the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

That said, Newcastle United are working around the clock to strengthen their squad’s attack. Meanwhile, Alan Pardew continues preparations ahead of the 2012/13 English season. The manager will lead Newcastle United in a club friendly against Monaco on Monday evening.
