Barcelona are edging closer to Real Madrid in La Liga. After the match against Getafe, the Catalans could find themselves only one point behind the current league leaders.
“Real Madrid will have to slog to win this league,” said Thiago Alcantara last weekend according to Mundo Deportivo.

Unfortunately for Madridistas, the Barcelona midfielder has a point. Los Blancos are no more in comfort zone. The 10-point gap they boasted about in March has spectacularly reduced itself. Barca and Madrid are only four points apart now.

“The things that have happened to us and the injuries we have had have been a shame. When we were 10 points behind, I believed that the Liga would give us a chance, and here we are, happy,” Adriano declared during the press conference which followed the 4-1 triumph away to Zaragoza.

“We cannot have any influence on Madrid's matches. We can only think about ourselves. We have always believed we can win the title and we will keep believing.”

The reigning La Liga champions are hoping to win the remainder of their matches. Considering their terrific form, they have a genuine chance of finishing the campaign on a high.

Barcelona could inscribe their tenth victory on the trot at home to Getafe. This would also be the Catalans’ 15th win at the Camp Nou where they are unbeaten in La Liga thus far. This remarkable record is something they’d love to maintain ahead of El Clasico on April 21.

Ironically, Lionel Messi has scored 5 goals more than the entire Getafe team (33) in La Liga this season. The Argentine enters Tuesday’s clash as the competition’s leading goal scorer, leaving the visitors’ defenders to be wary.

Getafe’s chances of taking points away from Barcelona on Tuesday look slim. Remarkably, Getafe have won four of their last six matches in the league but Barca possess an even bigger feat.

The Blaugrana are unbeaten in their last 53 home matches in all competitions. They have also clinched 93 points from a possible 99 since the last time they lost at the Camp Nou. In short, Barcelona are in the groove.

Meanwhile, within the camp of the enemy (Real Madrid), inconsistency is an issue. Manager Jose Mourinho, assistance coach Aitor Karanka and defender Raul Albiol all spoke to the media recently, singling out bad officiating as the reason behind the team’s stumbles.

Barcelona will face Getafe without Dani Alves. The Brazilian midfielder has been ruled out for an undefined period after picking up a thigh injury last Saturday.

Will this absence leave a hole in Barca's backline?
