The Citizens will take on Norwich City this weekend trying to win their first match of the 2021-22 campaign.

Despite all the rumors that linked Manchester City to high-profile moves for strikers such as Robert Lewandowski and Harry Kane, team coach Pep Guardiola admitted that the possibility of missing out on any of those signings is real given the current state of the transfer activity in Europe.

Speaking in the pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Norwich City, Guardiola hinted that life would not be unfair to his team if they are not capable of signing Harry Kane, who has reportedly asked to leave Tottenham this summer. More than that, Pep claimed that he would be delighted to work with this squad if no one else arrives.

"Absolutely, more than happy. It's the same team except Sergio for Jack Grealish that we had last season," Guardiola stated.

Then, the Spanish boss went on to squash the rumors that linked Robert Lewandowski to Manchester City after the striker reportedly asked his agent to search for other employment opportunities.

"Lewy is such an important player for Bayern Munich and he will stay at Bayern Munich," the boss added.

Speaking about the game against Norwich City, Guardiola hinted that Phil Foden will not have any role in this game, while Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan will be assessed before the game to determine their availability.

Gundo trained today and we will see tomorrow if he is able to play or not. The rest of the team everybody is fit except Phil Foden for after the international break and Kevin has a bit of a problem with his ankle," the coach concluded.
