Finally, Claudio Ranieri’s spell at Internazionale is over. The Italian giants have confirmed the sacking of the 60-year-old manager.
Last Sunday’s 2-0 loss to Juventus in the Serie A was apparently too much to take. On Monday evening, a statement from the club read:

“President Moratti and all of Inter would like to thank Claudio Ranieri and his staff for the professionalism and the commitment shown in these months.

“Inter would also like to announce that it has entrusted the team to Primavera coach Andrea Stramaccioni, who won the first edition of the Next Generation Series.”

Inter are in danger of missing out on European qualification. They are 10 points behind third-placed Lazio.

They’ve dropped down to eighth in the standings after last weekend’s defeat in the Derby d’Italia.

Speculations tell that Andre Villas-Boas could appointed at the head of Inter's coaching staff ahead of the upcoming season. In the meantime, youth team coach Andrea Stramaccioni will be in charge of the team until the end of 2011/12 campaign.

Claudio Ranieri replaced Gian Piero Gasperini earlier in September and helped Inter move out from their astonishing 17th spot condition.
