Several teams will be in FA Cup action over the next few days due to having to replay their fourth round ties.

Although the 2023/24 FA Cup's next stage is not taking place for another few weeks, several teams will be in action over the next few days.

The fifth round proper kicks off on February 26th, but the field is not totally set just yet. Ten teams ended up drawing their fourth round games, and as per the rules of the annual competition, should the scores finish level, the two teams will need to replay their match.

So, who aer the ten teams who will hope to get things right this time around as they prepare to battle for a spot in the fifth round? And who will their opponents be in the next stage, should they get there?

Here's all you need to know.

When is the fourth round replay taking place?

The fourth round replay of the 2023/24 FA Cup gets underway on Tuesday, February 6th and runs through Wednesday, February 7th.

What teams are involved in the fourth round replay?

A total of ten teams are involved in the fourth round replay, including Chelsea and Aston Villa. The other eight teams are as follows:

  • Southampton
  • Watford
  • Leeds United
  • Plymouth Argyle
  • Coventry City
  • Sheffield Wednesday
  • Nottingham Forest
  • Bristol City

With the exception of Nottingham Forest, who are also in the Premier League, all the other seven sides are currently featuring in the Championship next season.

What is the biggest game taking place during this round?

Arguably, the match featuring Aston Villa and Chelsea will be on to keep eyes on during the fourth round replay. The Villans and the Blues played to a frustrating scoreless stalemate at Stanford Bridge last month and the winner of this game will play either Plymouth Argyle or Leeds United, who will also be involved in a replay match 24 hours earlier on February 6th.

Both Aston Villa and Chelsea are dealing with quite a large number of players unavailable for selection. Unai Emery's side, who will be hosting this game will be missing Pau Torres, Lucas Digne, Emi Buendia, Tyrone Mings, Jhon Duran and Nicolo Zaniolo all out due to various injuries, while Morgan Rogers can't play due to being cup-tied from his participation in this competition with Championship side Middlesbrough.

Meanwhile, Mauricio Pochettino will have to contend with the absences of players like Wesley Fofana, Robert Sanchez, Reece James, Marc Cucurella, Romeo Lavia, and Lesley Ugochukwu. Although Trevoh Chalobah recently returned to training, he is not likely to be involved here, while Levi Colwill is another major doubt to participate.

Aston Villa and Chelsea have had vastly contrasting Premier League campaigns this season, and will come into this game having experienced different results from their respective league games. Emery's squad currently sit in fourth place having cruised to a 5-0 win over Sheffield United and are currently in contention to secure Champions League football for next season. The Villans are also involved in European action, as they qualified for the round of 16 in the Europa Conference League and will know their next opponents later this month. In terms of the FA Cup, Aston Villa are enjoying one of their most successful participations in recent times, as they are into the fourth round for the first time since the 2015/16 edition of this tournament.

By contrast, Chelsea come into this game following a humiliating 4-2 defeat to Wolves at Stamford Bridge. That results comes on the heels of a 4-1 drubbing by Liverpool, and now, having lost two Premier League games in a row, the Blues have slid back down into the bottom half of the table. Although Chelsea have fared well in past FA Cup replays - with eight wins out of their last nine - the Blues have really been quite poor in their travels and have in fact, lost six out of their last seven games away from Stamford Bridge. In addition, Chelsea have not scored in their last three meetings against Aston Villa and as such will be desperate to avoid making it a fourth consecutive result for what would be the first time in club history.

What are the other games taking place in the FA Cup fourth round replay?

In addition to the aforementioned Aston Villa vs Chelsea match on Wednesday, there are four other games taking place in the FA Cup fourth round replay.

On Tuesday, there will be three games:

  • The winner of this match will face sixth-tier side Maidstone United in the fifth round proper on February 26th.
