The winter transfer window could benefit the North American team with one of their best players signing with a club from the English top-flight.

We are heading into the final eight days of the transfer window, and there could be a major change that is bound to benefit the United States' national team.

According to recent reports, one of the USMNT's best players is set to leave his current club to try and help Nottingham Forest in their attempt to avoid relegation. With few details to sort, the deal could be announced soon.

The player in question is none other than Gio Reyna, who could leave Borussia Dortmund this week to join the Tricky Trees on a loan deal with a buyout clause included in the deal. The report that places Reyna as a Forest player states that the addition of that clause is the main issue to solve, but both parties are ready to see the deal through.

Reyna has played thirteen games this season across all comps, being unable to score or assist for the Black and Yellow.

Meanwhile, Nottingham are ranked sixteenth in the Premier League, but they could face a big hurdle in the relegation battle if EPL execs sanction them for an alleged wrongdoing in their financial statements. With that in mind, it is safe to say that the Reds will need all the help the can get to win games, which is why Reyna's signing would come in handy.

According to The Athletic, Nottingham are still considering other options in case Reyna is not able to join them, but as things stand, the USMNT player is the top choice to help them in their quest to stay afloat in the Premier League.
