Three stellar showdowns will take place in this round, with Arsenal visiting the Hammers and the Red Devils welcoming Eddie Howe's tricky Magpies.

Top games to watch in the Carabao Cup round of 16

West Ham vs. Arsenal

One of two highly-anticipated all-Premier League fixtures is Arsenal's trip to West Ham, with these two London heavyweights battling it out for a spot in the quarterfinals. This will see Declan Rice return to the club he captained for the first time since his summer move to the Emirates Stadium. However, while the Englishman and his new team enter this tie high on confidence, the same cannot be said for the hosts.

The Hammers took on Everton in the league over the weekend and suffered a 1-0 loss to the Toffees. The Gunners, on the flip side, put five past Sheffield United without reply on Saturday. The last time these sides met, however, David Moyes' side fought back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with the Gunners, handing Arteta's men a huge blow in the title race. Expect another exciting showdown between these two.

Chelsea vs. Blackburn

Chelsea are back in action and resume their hunt for silverware — arguably their only realistic shot at a trophy this campaign. Just a few days after their frustrating 2-0 loss at home to Brentford, Pochettino's men welcome Blackburn, the mid-table Championship side, to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are winless in their last two outings, losing 2-0 to the Bees and drawing 2-2 at home to Arsenal. That showdown with the Gunners saw Sterling and Co. throw away a 2-0 lead to settle for a point. Will the London giants end their winless run at home in this showdown? Don't miss this fixture.

Bournemouth vs. Liverpool

Another all-Premier League tie to make this list is Liverpool's trip to Bournemouth as Klopp's men aim to keep their winning streak running. The club are without Luis Diaz, who has fallen victim to family tragedy after his father was kidnapped in Colombia, but the Merseyside giants are unbeaten in their last five games and will want to keep this run going.

Bournemouth, on the other hand, sit a mere point above the relegation zone while their recent win against Burnley ended a run of three consecutive defeats. That remains the Cherries' only win this season in the Premier League. Expect a tough 90 minutes for Iraola's men.

Man United vs. Newcastle

And finally, we have the other standout round of 16 showdown. Manchester United lock horns with Newcastle in a repeat of last season's final as the Magpies aim for revenge against the defending champions.

Unlike the Red Devils, Eddie Howe's men do not enter this fixture on the back of a defeat. Nonetheless, the Saudi-owned club drew 2-2 with Wolves over the weekend and lost at home to Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League in the game before that. Additionally, the visitors are currently struggling with injuries but will look to capitalize on the home side's current misfortunes.

Manchester United, meanwhile, are reeling from their recent Manchester Derby defeat, losing 3-0 at home to Man City. Ten Hag's men cannot afford a second consecutive defeat at home but given their performance over the weekend, not many expect them to progress past the Magpies.
