The footballer will continue playing in the French top-flight following a loan spell in the 2022-23 season, where he scored 21 goals.

After being linked to clubs such as Inter and Lens, one of the most promising players for the USMNT has found a new club. To make things even better, he has also made history when it comes to American footballers being hired by European clubs.

Earlier today, Ligue 1 side Monaco confirmed the signing of Folarin Balogun, a product of Arsenal's academy and who urged the player to seek for employment opportunities. Balogun will join the Red and white side for a whopping $49M, the second highest amount for an American player.

The deal was agreed between Monaco and Arsenal after Mikel Arteta decided to snub Balogun's return in favor of Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah. Balogun will be keen on keeping up the form shown with Reims last season, where he found the back of the net 21 times to become one of the best strikers in the league.

Balogun's signing with Monaco has also made history for a member of the USMNT, as his transfer is the second-highest for an American footballer behind Christian Pulisic's move from Borussia Dortmund to Chelsea, with the Blues paying over $60M for the winger's services.

The striker's deal with Monaco will expire in 2028.
