Sergio Aguero’s late winning goal earned Manchester City a 1-0 win over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium last night.
The result continues City’s record of having not lost a domestic game so far this season, and ended a 10 game unbeaten run for the Gunners.

City started the game with an aggressive mentality, and went close after 10 minutes when winger Adam Johnson cut inside and fired his shot just over the bar.

The Gunners went up the other end and created a chance only a minute later when Francis Coquelin sent over a dangerous cross, and Park Chu-Young turned it towards goal only to be denied by City goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon.

Pantilimon was called into action again soon after when he tipped a long range Alex Oxade-Chamberlain effort around the goalpost.

Aleksandar Kolarov limped off injured for City just after the half-hour mark, and was replaced by eventual match winner Aguero.

Arsenal continued to dominate possession for the remainder of the first half, with the impressive Oxade-Chamberlain again forcing a good save from Pantilimon.

City saw more of the ball in the second half, but Arsenal continued to cause them problems with substitute Gervinho a particular threat.

Arsenal pushed forward and won a corner inside the final 10 minutes. City defended the corner and went straight up the other end and struck the killer blow with an impressive counter-attack goal.

City midfielder Nigel De Jong cleared Oxade-Chamberlain’s corner, and Edin Dzeko collected the loose ball before advancing towards the Arsenal goal. The Bosnian striker beat two Arsenal defenders, and then picked out young winger Johnson. England international Johnson set up Aguero who fired home the decisive goal from 12 yards out.

City celebrated at the final whistle and midfielder Samir Nasri became involved an ugly exchange with former Arsenal teammate Emmanuel Frimpong as the two teams left the field.

The win left Gunners boss Arsene Wenger ruing an “unfair” result, while City manager Roberto Mancini praised his team’s efforts in an “important” win.
