CONFIRMED: Carlo Ancelotti returns to Real Madrid after six years

The Italian coach decided to cut-short his time at Goodison Park to seal his return to the Bernabeu this summer.

When everyone believed that Real Madrid were going to hire a new boss to lead them into the future, the club has decided to trust the team's fortunes to a familiar face.

Earlier today, we had reported to you that Carlo Ancelotti was close to making a shock return to the Bernabeu. Now, both Real Madrid and Everton, the Italian's former club, have confirmed that "Carletto" will join Los Blancos on a three-year deal.

In the press release issued on Everton's website, Ancelotti revealed the reasons for this move and thanked the team's fans for their support.

"I have complete respect for everyone associated with Everton and hope they can achieve the exciting opportunities they have in front of them. While I have enjoyed being at Everton I have been presented with an unexpected opportunity which I believe is the right move for me and my family at this time," Ancelotti said.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid's press release informed the terms of the agreement with the Italian coach and the date for the official unveiling ceremony.

"Real Madrid communicate that Carlo Ancelotti will be the first-team coach for the next three seasons. The protocolary contract signing with president Florentino Pérez will take plaace at Real Madrid City. Later, Carlo Ancelotti will address the media at 18:00 CET in an online press conference," the document states.

After the official announcement, the coach used his Twitter account to say hello to Real Madrid fans.

The Italian boss is well-known by Real Madrid fans for giving them their tenth UEFA Champions League win in 2014. Added to that, "Carletto" won the Spanish Super Cup, the 2014 Copa del Rey, and the 2014 FIFA Club World Cup with Los Merengues. He was sacked after the 2014-15 season for failing to defend the Copa del Rey title, for finishing second in La Liga, and after being eliminated by Juventus in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.
