The love story between Jose Mourinho and Roma may be something in the past when the current season comes to an end, as the Portuguese coach all but confirmed his exit from the Italian club after the end of this week.
Speaking in the pre-match press conference for the UEFA Europa League final, Mourinho referred to his past iterations as coach in other clubs (particularly Inter and Real Madrid) to hint that his time at Stadio Olimpico could come to an end soon.
When asked about his future, The Special One revealed that he has already spoken to his captains about what the future holds in store for them, even if they are fully focused on winning the title against Sevilla on Wednesday.
"I've spoken with my two captains (Lorenzo Pellegrini and Gianluca Mancini) and they asked me a similar question. I was perfectly clear with them and I don't want them to tell you what we talked about because that stays between us, it's private. But there's a big difference with what is going on now and what happened when I was with Inter," Mourinho stated.
The former Inter boss was talking about his time with the nerazzurri and how he refused to have contract talks with them in order to sign a new deal that took him to Real Madrid.
"I had not signed a contract with Real Madrid, even though we had an agreement. But in this case there's nothing. My situation is completely different, there have been no talks with other clubs, but the team knows what I want to do. Right now, I don't want to talk about that, it's just us and Roma, we just want to play the game tomorrow," Mourinho added.
The 60-year-old tactician has been named as a potential replacement to Christoph Galtier at PSG, although he is still under contract with the Italian side. Curiously enough, a win against Sevilla could push him further away from Roma in search for other employment opportunities, but a loss could see him returning to the dugout for one more attempt to succeed in Europe.
