Man City to offer two players in exchange for Tottenham's wantaway striker Harry Kane

June 1, 2021 By Ali M.
The Cityzens are eager to beat Man Utd and Chelsea in the race to land the Premier League's Golden Boot winner.

Man City are ready to step up their pursuit of Harry Kane, with the Cityzens eyeing a move for the talented Premier League striker this summer. Interest in Tottenham's wantaway superstar is high, with Chelsea and Man United keen on landing the 27-year-old, but the Premier League champions are looking to offer two players in exchange in order to beat the competition.

According to the Sun, they are none other than Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus, two household names at the Etihad Stadium. Kane appears determined to leave and the two aforementioned players would bolster Spurs' squad in key positions, hence the offer, but there is more to it than just that.

The Three Lions ace, who is expected to lead the line for his country in Euro 2020, has communicated his desire to leave north London after going another season without trophy. Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is under tremendous pressure, having overseen another disappointing campaign which ended in no silverware and no top-four finish.

Spurs are said to be eyeing a sensational move for former head coach Mauricio Pochettino as the club are yet to fill the void left by Jose Mourinho's mid-season sacking. Levy is hopeful that the return of the Argentine would convince Kane to stay but there is belief that this will not be enough, hence why a whopping $213M price tag was slapped on the striker.

However, given the departure of Sergio Aguero, Man City are on the hunt for a striker and who better to replace the iconic Argentine than this season's Golden Boot winner. Nonetheless, the price is an issue and by offering Sterling and Jesus in exchange, the Cityzens hope to significantly bring down the asking price.

Having lost the UEFA Champions League final 1-0 to Chelsea, Guardiola looks to shake up his team and is ready to cut Sterling, who was linked with Real Madrid not too long ago, after his disappointing 2020/21 campaign. Gabriel, on the other hand, has never fully convinced Pep and has been the understudy to Aguero for some time now.

The return of Gareth Bale means Spurs could benefit from adding a winger to their ranks while the addition of a striker with Premier League experience could be crucial given what looks to be Kane's inevitable exit. One concern, however, is Arsenal's interest in Sterling. His wages are another issue as he could prove too expensive for both the north London outfits.
