The English striker has secured another milestone with his decider in Wednesday's encounter.

Marcus Rashford equalled Man United legend Andy Cole's goal-record with his strike against Brentford. The English striker put United in the lead against the Bees with a stunning strike in the first half of the Premier League clash as his side secured three vital points in the mid-week encounter.

Following the Sunday's disappointing defeat to Newcastle United, Manchester United came into Wednesday's game knowing that any result but a win will potentially put their top-four aspirations in limbo. In hindsight, it was far from a straightforward ride for Erik ten Hag's men but Rashford ensured that they went into the break with the lead.

The 25-year-old attacker was set up by Marcel Sabitzer in the 27th minute and wasted no time in smashing home a thunderous effort for his 28th goal of the season. Watch:

With the strike, Rashford equalled Andy Cole's tally of 121 goal, as he climbed up the ladder as an all-time great. Needless to say, it is worth noting that Cole required just 275 games to achieve the feat as a Manchester United player while the former needed 348 outings to catch up.

At the moment, Rashford only needs one more goal to overtake Zlatan Ibrahimovic and become United's highest goal-scorer in a single season since Sir Alex Ferguson retired. With 11 goals, no player in the league has scored more goals than the Englishman since the season resumed after the World Cup. He has also has scored 10 winning goals in the Premier League this season, the most by a Manchester United player in a season since Wayne Rooney (also 10) in 2009-10.

Meanwhile, Manchester United were able to end the night with all the three points and another cleansheet. Currently, the Red Devils are fourth on the Premier League table, and are only behind Newcastle as they Magpies have a superior goal difference. Both teams also have a game in hand and could establish a six-point lead ahead of Tottenham Hotspur should all go according to plan.
