It's been almost 100 years since the Blues managed a record worse than this.

Chelsea were once again condemned to an all-time low in the Premier League after failing to score in Tuesday night's clash with Liverpool. The Blues were let down by their inefficiency in from of goal in their first game since Graham Potter's sacking as their opponents clinched onto a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge.

Under interim manager Bruno Saltor, Chelsea made two changes to the team that suffered the disappointing 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa over the weekend. Injury-returnees Wesley Fofana and Ngolo Kante were reintroduced into the side but could not significantly impact their bid to secure all the three points against Jurgen Klopp's charges. Indeed, it was not for the lack of trying as they had a goal apiece correctly disallowed in both halves. This, coupled with missing a handful of good goalscoring opportunities, was the bane of the Blues.

Amid the struggles, the match result has led Chelsea to an unwanted feat that was last witnessed in almost a century ago. With 29 goals to their name in 29 Premier League games this season, the Blues have only ever netted fewer at this stage of a league campaign twice before - in 1921-22 and 16 in 1923-24.

With just nine more games left of the season to play, Chelsea are 11th on the league log with 39 points from 29 outings while Liverpool are eighth. The potential to secure a Champions League place is no more, as the Blues ready themselves to take on Wolves in their 30th game of the season.
